Hedgehogs, they’re kind of like outlaws: A little prickly, but loving underneath it all. So, it’s only natural when the time came to find a wacky Western-inspired name for her hedgie, Kathy had the perfect pun all rolled up—into a spiky ball. Say howdy to Quillie Nelson.
“I wanted something to rhyme with Quill,” says Kathy H., pet parent and Nationwide pet insurance member. “Then I thought about Willie. The most iconic Willie I could think of was Willie Nelson. Since he's a hedgehog, I chose Quillie Nelson.”
Like any good cowboy, Quillie appreciates a good spittoon (or becoming one, in this case). “He will find something that he thinks smells good and chew it until he works up a lather in his mouth. Then, he will contort himself around so he can lick the lather on to his back.”
Kathy knows that veterinary bills can cause “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.” To help stay in the saddle financially, she got Nationwide pet insurance. “They have a very easy claim process,” she says. “The submission process is easy, and the claims process is very fast.”
