If you thought you’d heard every wacky pet name imaginable, Nationwide pet insurance is here to prove otherwise. As part of its annual Wacky Pet Names celebration, Nationwide analyzed recently enrolled pets and uncovered a new class of names that are bold, bizarre, brainy and downright unforgettable.
This year’s finalists reflect how pet naming has evolved into a creative outlet inspired by humor, pop culture, wordplay and even academic flair. This year’s list showcases imagination across dogs, cats and a range of exotic pets including a pigeon, bearded dragon and rabbit.
Support your favorite dog, cat, and exotic pet name by voting daily April 13-17, 2026 in each category.
