In the late 1950s, breeders combined the Burmese and black American shorthair breeds and the Bombay was conceived. The Bombay cat has golden eyes and a black coat that's soft as velvet and shiny as patent leather. With a tight, muscular body, she sways as she walks, with a bearing similar to that of the Indian black leopard. For all her athletic agility, she’s also an affectionate companion with a mellow disposition.

Bombay care 101

Bombays require weekly brushings of their beautiful coats to keep them shiny and smooth. Although athletic, they don't need as much activity as other domestic cats but are content with playing around the house, especially with children. They can be trained to walk on a leash and are friendly to those they encounter in the outside world.
